@mttaggart That sounds like the way to coin a new cult or a new god. It also sounds like the problem lies in the humans using flawed bots and not in the flawed bots themselves. That would be a dangerous argument, though.

@mttaggart Well, something about them isn't right. You get someone who starts using ChatGPT and immediately gets hooked. These bots are affirming, validating, polite, they don't contradict or argue, they give you the answers you want and the attention you seek. The surprise is how many people actually are in need of this validation.
@AAKL Is that really a surprise? Our loneliness is pandemic. Our alienation is now generations long. And we are told constantly that we are inadequate, insufficient, and undeserving. It's hardly a surprise to me that a font of affirmation is so appealing.

@mttaggart and as with other addictions quite a few people will be enabling the addicts. And not just the people profiting from it; but often the people being harmed by it.
