Good day all!
I have the pleasure of announcing work that @enoent@ravenation.club has done for BT Free for our Tube Free Peertube.
We now have working, and it's running AMAZINGLY, automation that auto-scales PeerTube runners based on pending transcoding jobs.
So when someone uploads a video, a job is kicked off for each quality, the script spins up a hetzner server to transcode that job, and then shuts down.

Just a reminder we're also hosting the our own Peertube Index built on a chain of trust.

Absolutely LOVED this video by John Mauriello of Design Theory.
He's looking for folks to talk to him about ways to make this enshitifcation hellscape better. He talks about all of the problems, @pluralistic@mamot.fr books and is explaing this to his almost 1 million followers.
And he WANTS to talk to people. EVERYONE please reach out! The more we can become a chorus and not just a drowned voice, the more likely we can speed up our revolution.

@_elena in my experience, the main determinant for any technology’s long-term development is how control over it is structured. It’s all a question of power.
Technologies where power is centralized often grow quickly. Some achieve monopoly status, most others die.
Technologies where power is distributed often grow much more slowly. But they’re exceedingly resilient. Over time, many become part of the fabric of society.

Centralization is easy. You control it all. It's not good for people that want innovation and choice.
Decentralization brings freedom, innovation, choice, but offers a lot of technical roadblocks.
I just want choice. I can choose what's best for my family. I don't need Tim Apple, or whoever to tell me what's good for us, while trapping us into a fish bowl and making us work for our food.

Now that I think of it. Are there any kind of fediverse connectivity between servers tools? Digging in logs at the admin level yes. But we want to exist in the Fediverse. Shouldn't we have quick check tools to make sure we're connecting out? Even users can identify issues then.
I like the new tabs.pub. Just had a thought.
A user on my Bonfire is experiencing an issue with Federation. When I've been posting from here, I see that tags.pub has been boosting my content. I like that. A bit noisey, but whatever.
HOWEVER, since I now know that my FiresideFedi user isn't federating, I wonder if you could add like a @ping@tags.pub when doing a #ping or something similar, so that we have external servers that verify our connectivity. Maybe not just a ping, but a PONG or response or something. I think this could help with understanding connectivity.
