While the #US has become an authoritarian state that tramples on the rights and freedoms of people around the world, EU member states want to grant US authorities direct and far-reaching access to #biometric data stored in European #police databases. 😠

EU states have given the green light for negotiations on a framework agreement with the USA that is intended to regulate access to biometric police data.

@ilumium And the scary part is that i've been expecting this to happen because of Trump's omnipotent and arrogant attitude wanting to own the entire world.

What's next, he gonna also ask for biometric data on the other continents too? Who is even gonna stop him (and all of his ongoing initiatives, laws and so on)?

@ilumium - um - I will refer you to the amazing irony of the website that hosts this threatening me with tracking if I don’t pay up. So I’m going with “No”.

@ilumium All these people I heard telling me that the EU has finally grown a spine and standing up to the US.

The EU could blockade America beyond its continental land borders while barely lifting a finger by cutting US intelligence and military assets out of Europe tomorrow. They could cripple the US economy tomorrow by refusing to respect American IP the way Russia and China have for decades

The fuck are they going to do, nuke them? France would like to have a word with them if they even flinched in the direction of the nuclear launch codes.

@ilumium Basically the #UnitedStates 🇺🇸 & #EuropeanUnion 🇪🇺 are allowing each other to see the biometric, private & digital (social media) information of residents in each other’s respective domains.

So far it seems this is limited to travelers, but I am confident that the data exchange between both will expand significantly (against folks interests of course).
