If you're not from the US, generally the point of these is to use tax dollars set aside for cycling improvements for the actual purpose of widening or maintaining car infrastructure.

No one is going to bike on this so it works the same as an actual highway widening project.

@fluffykittycat @ChampersBE The thing is, they have enough real estate to do that. But no, they decided to just paint "BIKE LANE" on the median. They did pull this out a couple of years later, I am unsure if they were sued or someone died.
