I do miss the old twitter when enough people in my corner of high energy astro were on, to have meaningful conference convos - either with folks attending or with colleagues who were not there this rime but were interested and would get the people involved and the context 馃槩

@vicgrinberg the old twitter sounds like a public group chat you could join in without needing an invitation.
Maybe conferences will do something like this as a hosted service? But then it probably ends up being another app...
Sorry that you haven't had a similar experience here.
In the early days of Twitter, people I knew online in board game and IT spheres would wear our Twitter handles on convention badges.
I noticed over the years that more and more people would do this and found lots of peers this way. I think it also encouraged people to join.
I will do this for my conference and convention badges with my Mastodon handle going forward. Maybe it will have a similar effect.
