Should governments go for open source software?
@nextcloud I'm an anarchist so I don't think governments should do anything that makes their work more efficient at arresting my friends who free animals from laboratories and blockade meat packing plants.
@ambiguous_yelp @nextcloud on the other hand they do handle our personal data. Corporatist government is arguably more dangerous than one that doesn't rely on corpos.
@licho @nextcloud If govts use OSS they will still share your data with corporations I hate to break it to you but the state exists to protect property rights for capitalists and increasingly personal data is considered a property right for capitalists because they make a lot of money from it, a good chunk of which goes back into the state apparatuse to legitimise that theft with "laws"
Just changing the software from google software to libreoffice isnt going to change that fundamental relationship
@ambiguous_yelp @nextcloud I'm on the same team 😁 no need for "I hate to break it to you".
@licho @nextcloud Sorry it was a habitual turn of phrase
@ambiguous_yelp @nextcloud no worries. I'm worried that maybe I am de-radicalizing too much when trying to acknowledge some actual wins people have had in the past. It's refreshing to hear some strong arguments to remind me clear truths about the nature of the state.
Thanks :)
