@Gargron @ErikUden yes we are SO cooked. But also: parenting AND educational system fail right there... surely he must have at least graduated high school?

Meanwhile, back in my day, in Italy we studied Dante in middle school (age 10-12).

@elena @Gargron @ErikUden I remember my neighbors in Italy telling me that by the time they got out of school, they had read the Divine Comedy three times. It was more than a little humbling.
