That's if your religion uses the Gregorian calendar, most of the Orthodox Christian churches don't even start Christmas until January 7th.

Armenian Orthodox, separately from everyone else celebrate on January 6th and smush Christmas and the Epiphany together.

Was fun growing up to be one of the only families celebrating Christmas on the 25th (most others were Orthodox or Muslim) so when we had a Christmas lunch, a lot of people were able to join.

#PuertoRico has the longest christmas season in the world. it officially starts on the day of gringo turkeymaggedon and ends on Three Kings Day.

UNOFFICIALLY, when i was a kid, Christmas didn't end until el día de La Candelaria.

so after Las Octavitas, Día de Reyes and Fiestas de San Sebastián, many portorros declared Las Navidades officially over when we burned our arbolitos de crísmas on THE 2ND OF FEBRUARY.

so for +20 years of my life, #christmas lasted for 2½ months

@blogdiva we always celebrated Christmas season starting with advent and until the Epiphany 😀 we got a second group of gifts on the Epiphany. In our lore, it was a good witch (la Befana) who delivered gifts on the Epiphany, and they were my favourites because it was usually some chocolates and other treats

@blogdiva Our tree has usually gone up the weekend after thanksgiving, but it all comes down Christmas Day. When it’s over, it’s over.

@blogdiva Catholic Czech ancestry here and the tree was always up through Epiphany but I often begged to keep it though Candlemas in Feb, too. Plus there was Advent, so it was basically Christmas from December to February, at which point I had just enough time to prep for Valentine’s and then Carneval.

@blogdiva tbh the season started vaguely in October when I was growing up. That’s when plaza would start playing aguinaldos and everyone started putting up their décor

@zkat we have 20-30 years difference in age though, right? this wasn’t really a thing up until the 1990s. everything went to shit after Reagan-Bush.
