I’ve added the nacelles, and just like that, the stardrive section is complete. This is also the end of the first instruction book, 231 pages. Up next, the saucer section and instruction book two, which clocks in at 226 pages. So, I guess I’m halfway through.

After 15 months of hard work, my dad has finished this impressive model of Minas Tirith! It is 1.4 m high and entirely hand-made out of wood. One of the most time-consuming parts was manually engraving the bricks on all walls and buildings, but this was key to properly convey the huge size of the city. @Daojoan Apparently it was generally rather egalitarian and consensus-based prior to the Holocene. The advent of lootable resources, monopoly of violence and the inability for the plebs to get out set the scene for power differences, wealth inequality and the ability to transfer that through generations.

So the small percent of sociopaths who would have been cast out of the group for the vast majority of our species' existence now have a vice like grip on all our lives.

This is not "human nature" but the result of increased hierarchisation over time. Still, the good news is that when it all collapses the plebs have historically done better*

* Except this time it's global and we're not all peasant farmers so it might be a bit of a giant cluster fuck.

@futurebird it doesn't get cold enough here for the ants to really go away. I do think there is a major shift going on as this last summer had many less birds. I expect to see a lot of adjustment from the usual behaviors as climate changes so much more quickly than flora and fauna
