Does everybody else here experience "being the asshole in the room" among your friends and family for trying to switch people to newer open tech (like #ActivityPub and #matrix) because they're all just accepting of the limitations of the old ways, even though it wouldn't be that hard and make things much better long-term? Lock-in is a bitch.

Para mostrar que es posible se puede usar puentes entre #matrix, #signal y #whatsapp. Así es posible tener un numero para whatsapp y ofrecer el mismo canal por signal y matrix a cuentas sin numero.

We're helping people in Iran get set up with #Matrix.
So far we've supported several servers (directly and indirectly) so the community has infrastructure nobody can just switch off.
Right now we're preparing for the next internet shutdown. Offline plans and local comms aren't nice-to-haves they're literally survival tools.
We prepare before the blackout, not after.
With hope for #freedom in Iran.

I am here once again asking you to switch to #decentralized solutions, the answer is never centralization
if you are going to leave #WhatsApp switch to #ArcaneChat, #DeltaChat, #XMPP, #Matrix, etc.
#signal doesn't get shit for going down like #bluesky does. both are not effectively decentralized. use #matrix instead. get all the people who promote signal and have money, to help build out an ecosystem for matrix. if we ever really face the full totalitarian crackdown that signal builds its reputation on fighting, this will matter.
