What I mean by this is that no, it's not the job of the political apparatus to be some sort of mediators between various interest groups on the one hand & everybody else on the other hand, or just between interest groups.
They are literally, explicitly employed - and paid - to represent us, the people, at the table, placing OUR interests above ANYTHING that ANY interest group might approach them to talk about.
We shouldn't have to ask them to do that because THAT'S THE WHOLE JOB!

- and yes, you can argue that many interest groups are formed ro represent the people, but by the very nature of representative government, those groups rank lower than the group represented by the elected, namely the population as a whole - who don't have to form an interest group for this purpose, because it already exists, because THAT'S WHAT REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT IS!
