I'm grateful to #Mastodon for still attracting interesting people. I have the chance to regularly interact with those who are genuinely interested in two-way conversations. Unfortunately, nowadays, too many people engage with others not to foster meaningful connections, but to seek validation and self-recognition. A big thank YOU.

What I do love about #Mastodon and the greater #Fediverse, by the way, are the personalities. There *is* a culture here.
Other microblogging sites have a sort of algorithmic supremacy going on where you trade personality for a ticket to the internet celebrity lottery. No individualism. You pick your niche from a set deck and you play the FYP slots.
Meanwhile, everyday I run into someone who's like "hey I'm star-cake. I'm a queer carrot farmer. I collect Soviet-era camera lenses." Amazing.
La vida pasa en cafés a medio beber,

Decidí crear una nueva cuenta y usar #mastodon porque no quiero seguir usando redes sociales que usan algoritmos para mantener mi atención tanto como sea posible y que pertenecen a empresas y entidades con las que no me siento afín.
Nadie está ni debe estar obligado a ello. Sin embargo, es una decisión personal con la que me siento cómodo.

This happy little group of **Musk Lorikeets**, (*Trichoglossus concinnus*), was photographed in Tathra, NSW. Probably the best (bird) photo I captured in 2025. Thanks to all the kind folk on #mastodon who shared #camera info and tips. I'm very happy with the #canon #r10 and Rf100-400mm I used for this. Minimal editing in #darktable - which is also great.

I have a website for my music, etc. It's very simple, just made with straight HTML, using an old version of DreamWeaver. Can I add a "Follow me on Mastodon" link?
I've only had this account on the fediverse/mastodon for 3 years, yet I've had more weird hate than at any other time I've been online except possibly USENET in the 1990s and Twitter in the 2010s when I was tweeting favorably about Occupy. People here have suggested I'm lying more times than I remember. I mean dang, it's fine to disagree with someone but you don't need to besmirch their character. If this were the 18th century we'd be dueling.
I tend to speak my mind because I'm of the opinion that the Abilene paradox should not be a lifestyle, and that's gotten me some IRL hate over the years. But given what I've experienced here and how I've seen others treated, I'd say Mastodon really is something special in this regard.
