I made a filament storage container with a PC4-M6 pneumatic connector from a food storage box!
It can be connected to the printer via a PTFE tube and equipped with silica gel to keep the filament dry.

It can be connected to the printer via a PTFE tube and equipped with silica gel to keep the filament dry.
Nature rarely builds solid. Bird bones, seashells and honeycombs use clever, porous designs to stay strong without the extra weight.
Now, #3Dprinting is letting engineers copy those natural blueprints — “printing air” into products that are lighter, safer and more efficient. ⬇️

My friend finally received it today in the mail, so I can publicly share pictures of the gift I made him as his "Secret Santa". It wasn't secret after a while since I was late, but whatever.
He's a big LOTR fan, so I 3D printed a ring using gold PLA, got a page from the book printed with a parchment-like texture, found a frame in a thrift shop that I sanded/painted/etc and finally put a LED strip inside the ring so it lights up.
Very happy about the final result! #3Dprinting #lotr

So #ICE and #CBP are in the middle of a big op in my area around SE louisiana.
I'm putting the word out for folks in the #maker #3dprinting space who want to jump in, printing whistles is a huge help to bring attention when agents are in a particular area or neighborhood. Some community groups are having trouble getting orders filled, and I figure the Fedi can de-centrally stand in the gap.

Hi, I am Søren (the "ø" is pronounced like the "ea" in "Earth"), a guy from Denmark. I am trying out the #fediverse to see what it is all about and support it with a bit of content.

Oh boy. The wife saw my new filament delivery come in. She quietly took the cash I had sitting in my wallet and went out to buy a new jacket.
That went WAAYYYY better than I expected.
Noticed some black blobs getting into recent 3D prints. Turns out i've got a gap in my heater block thats allowing liquified filament to leak out and burn. Then pool and drip down and around the outside of the nozzle. So today, I get to dismantle, clean, and rebuild the hot end. Fun times!

does fediverse have recommendations for 3d printers that are small enough to fit on a 10 inch wide shelf? i'm looking into getting my first 3d printer but articles keep recommending models that aren't sold anymore
