So the billion dollar question is: how does Anna's Archive protect itself from Spotify, the RIAA, and the litigious weight of the entire music industry?
@killyourfm they don't host anything, just provide infrastructure. There are a lot of download mirrors for actual content, each one decentralised and on torrents
@killyourfm they are just training AI. totally legal. the courts have upheld that.
@killyourfm fun fact: the Anna's archive website is blocked by my ISP and I need to use a VPN to view it. My ISP is one of the biggest in the UK.
@joeress That doesn't SOUND fun 😊
I believe it's the same in Germany?
@killyourfm it works with my German endpoint. 🤷♂️
@killyourfm the same way torrent sites stay up. Host in a country that doesn't care about international law or copyright.
@killyourfm dunno, but I'm rooting for them!
@killyourfm or, as importantly, how many mirrors have been created just in case?
@killyourfm It does seem like begging for pain. 🔨
@killyourfm yeah libgen.is and all the mirrors are gone now — AA was the last one standing. It won’t take long.
This is a bonfire demo instance for testing purposes
