PLEASE stop recommending people new to Star Trek to skip straight to Season 3 of TNG.
They don't get to meet Q at his most Q-ness. They don't get to meet the Borg for the first time. (Q Who) They don't get to see Measure of a Man talking about self-determination and what defines intelligent life. (Home Soil & Measure of a Man) They don't get to meet Lore and delve into Data's history. (Datalore) They don't get the early episodes discussing the Prime Directive (Pen Pals). They don't get the excellent episode with a deaf actor talking about sign language. (Loud as a Whisper)
By all means pick out certain episodes. There are some real stinkers in the first two seasons. But you miss SO MUCH throwing out 48 episodes of the damn show!
