Because I mentioned on a thread on Lemmy, I was reminded of this fun #Christmas tradition at my former parish:

We used to do this thing where we gave the children who showed up for the Christmas Eve service animals from the nativity scene and invited them to join the procession and place them around the manger. I would be at the end of the procession to place the Christ child, after which I would cense the scene and say the opening prayers. But one year I see a little rubber dinosaur toy among the sheep and donkeys. I pulled out my phone to take a pic and mentioned it to the congregation. No one ever admitted to doing this, but the dinosaur became a fixture at the crèche every year from that point forward. Kids would sometimes clamor to be the ones to carry it.
