The only people who can reliably see how many times a post was boosted, quoted, or favorited are users on the server it came from. On other servers, those numbers are unlikely to be correct.
This means if someone posts a reply, and you agree with them, _and you want the author of the original post to know you agree with the reply_, you need to post another reply, not just like or boost the post you agree with.
Yes, really, "me too!" toots are appropriate in this context.
