Boston City Council sets property tax rates, effectively approving 13% residential hike

The Boston City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to set commercial property taxes at 175 percent of the rate paid by homeowners next year, the maximum allowed by law. Even with that shift, the move effectively locks residents into a 13% increase.
