I'm getting my 6-year old a dumb (as in, not internet connectable) MP3 player that does only one thing, which is play audio files, plus kid-sized Bluetooth headphones. Couple of observations:

• If you're gifting someone electronics, make sure all Bluetooth devices are charged and paired beforehand.
• Music piracy is alive and well in 2025. I'd even argue that pirating music is easier than it was in the '90s.
• As a responsible parent, OF COURSE I'm pre-loading the kid's device with power metal.
