Bonus: This might be a PITA in terms of paperwork. But once you're set up as an established "vendor" in their system, it'll always be easier for them to go to you for this kind of work than to anybody else.
@dequbed The corpo I work for does this sort of thing fairly routinely, at least for some of the FOSS programs that are important for our work or our products.
Their internal business case (unless they're completely stupid, which is unlikely) is not "this costs money, we won't do it'; but "having a dev spend a couple days fixing this is still cheaper than licensing the proprietary equivalent, so... who's up for it?"

@slothrop sure. But the problem is that patch would be *terrifying* to review. It's a problem inside some `unsafe` memory shuffling block that needs to be extremely careful about provenance and ownership (fancy words for it's about as much footgun-potential as C++98 so *a lot*). Reviewing the patch is probably as much work as fixing it myself.

I have debated asking them for exactly that the last time they opened an issue too, but chances are it's a hassle that I absolutely do not care for ^^'

@slothrop probably, yes. At least last time I checked the DoD's supply chain requirements asked me if I was associated with an “enemy nation”. Back then that meant Iran, Iraq, etc. but I'm pretty sure it explicity includes Venezuela now
@dequbed that would be the corpo's problem though, not yours. (Saying this as someone who's filled in one too many export control questionnaires)
