@FayeDrake If genAI is so brilliant, people can just type their own prompts into these things and generate books about whatever it is they want to read. Why do we need authors anymore? People could also generate their own movies, their own music, whatever it may be tailored to their specific personal interests. We literally don't need any "creators" anymore. 🤣
Of course I don't believe any of that, but that's the logical conclusion of AI boosterism! 🙄
@jaredwhite Art, like so much considered "frivolous" has an important function in that it's the glue that binds our shared identity and the stories that create our the future.

That feels dangerously close to a variant of Godwin's Law ("as an internet discussion continues the probability of a comparison to Orwell tends to one"). But I also need to invoke Godwin's Corollary ("sometimes it _is_ The Party").
