Oh I am so pissed off with #icecubes now.

I just typed a detailed toot in five parts.

I was just reading it before posting, and I turned my phone a bit for a moment and it went landscape. It does not turn back.

Seems ice cubes has a bug. Once you do that you are stuck. Indeed any attempt to even post the toot just crashes ice cubes.

Post lost. Not amused at all.

@revk After having lost a few toots to @IceCubesApp and @tootapp and even @ivory due to merely switching between apps on my phone to check a fact that is elsewhere, let alone the bug you’re describing, I have discovered that @MonaApp is doing drafts right. It will auto-save a draft as you type it, so if iOS quits your app for whatever reason, getting your post back is a matter of three taps - new post, drafts, latest draft. You don’t even need to find the post you were replying to. It will also keep media attached to the draft if appropriate.

It also synchronises this between iPad, Mac, and phone, so I can draft the post on my Mac, then go to my phone and add the photo I haven’t synced off it yet.

And it will take one massive draft and split it into a thread, at sensible locations, with added (1/5) page markers.

I’m a convert, happily paying for the app.

Short version, not retyping.

Just solved a very technical issue relating to SPI bus and WS2811 LED strips which were causing my garden fence LED strips to flicker and glitch. Solved it whilst in the bath using my iPhone. Tested by watching fence via CCTV on iPhone.

Longer term fix tomorrow, as needs oscilloscope, and weirdly I don’t have one of them in the bathroom.

Eureka!

My longer term changes worked exactly as planned, much neater code now. No more LED glitches. Using SPI for this is so much neater that the IR remote code.

@revk
So you're sending each bit as 3 SPI bits to get the right timing?

I've been wondering about the most efficient way to stretch a byte across multiple bytes that way. Or do it as 4 bits out per one bit in? I imagine the answer is in FastLED somewhere.

@tschundler I have 3 and 4 bit options on SPI. I currently do 4 bits (1000 and 1110) but may change back to 3 bits (100 and 110) if testing shows it works as well.

And not hard…

@revk Fortunately with a SCPI/lxi connected scope you can drive your scope from the bath.
(Please tell me that you solved your problem by rubber ducking)
