According to a Starmer spokesperson, the UK Government finds the Grok CSAM/NCII situation "disturbing" but will not be taking any action against Musk/Twitter.

"Then what was the point of the Online Safety Act!?" you may ask. You see, the point of all the enacted/proposed "child safety" legislation isn't to keep kids safe and go after big tech, it's to silence dissent against the government and get rid of things they personally find icky/weird.

Laws are but a polite suggestion to the ultra-wealthy/connected.

@GalacticGoddess There was a very telling moment during the farce that was the "debate" on the petition to repeal the OSA (which mainly comprised of MPs wanking themselves silly over ideas to make the act even more intrusive and draconian).

One MP (I forget who) stood up and said that a big issue was people saying unpleasant things about her online. Talk about saying the quiet part out loud... that's what they think - the OSA is to stop the serfs saying naughty things about their illustrious betters online.
