I’m surprised to see that - even after all these years - people seem to believe that “open source” can’t be monetized.
It’s very much doable. And there’s a much better way to do it than donations.
We really need more people working on the software/data commons for a living, or we risk furthering a culture where most people work on it as a hobby, where quality suffers, and where the commons get a bad reputation of being “by hobbyists, for hobbyists.”
