Scary Austin VOTED 4 HARRIS!

Wired has removed the paywall from this article about digital safety in protesting. That is awesome. Please do read it.

I would like to give a real life perspective though. You can do all or none of the things they recommend. Why? Because there are millions of us marching and they can't lock us all up. We've been laughing at them for months in the protest movement. 8% of USians (all comers, not Democrats) said they attended a No Kings rally.

How to Protest Safely in the Age of Surveillance

Law enforcement has more tools than ever to track your movements and access your communications. Here’s how to protect your privacy if you plan to protest.

I am not breaking the law and they can bite my ass with their surveillance. I take my phone everywhere but the ICE lockup itself, which is where I'd expect to encounter Graphite. Now that one's nasty, because it can get into Signal and we all communicate on Signal. Others have their phones out even there, though. Some might have burner phones, others not.

A giant march, like we're seeing across the country? These dumbfucks can't find their own asses with both hands and a road map. They are....

...certainly not going to find and hunt you down. There's too damn many of us and only a few thousand moronic goons in ICE to do it, who are all desperately focused on kidnapping harmless people to meet their quotas.

I do not cover my face except for an N95 in crowded outdoor situations, and those don't cover your identity (because facial ID mostly focuses on the eyes). Again, they can bite my ass.

That's how everybody else feels too who's already out in the streets. Me and several...

...million of my closest buddies who are all screaming "FUCK YOU ICE" at the top of our lungs. It isn't subtle. We did that last night at the lockup and we made the local news! Hi, mom!

As for my car, when I'm doing ICE watch I park strategically but that's just because I don't want these ICE criminals to slash my tires or something. But even then, a lot of other ICE watch people park in obvious locations and have bumper stickers like "FUCK ICE" just for good measure.

I'm not telling you what to do, I'm just saying:

1) If it's time to shoot white citizens my buddies and I are next, not you, and
2) The only way any of us can achieve safety is to just get out in the streets, all of us, and
3) That is happening. We are turning the corner, and it's not even the Year of the Fire Horse yet or whatever, and
4) These people are fucking cooked.

Just get out to a protest. The danger is from sitting around doing nothing, not least because doomscrolling...

There are more of us than there are of them.
