I’ve been curating content on Iran since 2009. This is the most challenging environment yet. Iran has state controlled media. Correspondents from non-state outlets are few. Citizens upload what they can, but internet is throttled. There’s also A LOT of propaganda. But these Iran protests are major.

Despite their size and reach, I doubt these protests will lead to regime change in Iran—but they have been destabilizing. The protests began in response to economic pressures, and numerous actors are leveraging the instability, including Reza Pahvlavi (the son of the late Shah), the US, and Israel.
@leahmcelrath.bsky.social a #generalstrike is *so remarkably* effective, that people will come out of the woodwork everytime it's mentioned to tell you how it's not effective for $ACKTCHUALLY reasons..
That's bad math. If your POPULACE is NOT WORKING, your economy is STALLED, then BILLIONAIRES SUFFER..
And we need all 900 of them to suffer greatly right now.
