First of all, I would like to congratulate you for not using X, or for having decided to leave it. As a Green Party voter in Germany, I truly appreciate this stance.
However, I am concerned that around 67% of your political group, including representatives whom I helped elect, are still active on X despite its well-documented role in amplifying disinformation and undermining democratic debate.
For this reason, I have created the Leave X - Peer Persuasion Award, an initiative that highlights and encourages peer-to-peer leadership within political groups: https://leavex.eu/posts/leave-x-peer-persuasion-award/
As colleagues who have already taken this step, I would like to encourage you to actively persuade your ten fellow Greens/EFA MEPs representing Germany to leave X as well. The reasoning behind my call has been publicly stated for over a year in an open letter addressed to European politicians and leaders.
More recently, inspired by Alexandra Geese's important and courageous work in countering online disinformation, I published concrete suggestions for European alternatives to X.
Finally, it is worth noting that the Greens already have their own Mastodon instance.
This provides a strong, values-aligned space in which to engage in political debate without reinforcing harmful platforms.
I sincerely hope to see your continued leadership, not only by example, but also by actively helping to build a healthier digital public sphere for political discourse in Europe.
