PeerTube instance with good reach?

Looking for a PeerTube instance I can join to watch videos.

@FediVideo Hi, FediVideo. First, thanks much for all that you (and your alter egos) do here in the Fediverse! You are a treasure. smile

I am wondering if you can recommend a PeerTube instance with good reach that I can join? My goal is simply to have an account that I can log into on the raspberry pi connected to my TV to view, subscribe to, and maybe occasionally leave comments on PeerTube videos. I have no need or desire to upload videos.

A couple of weeks ago I visited your website, and subscribed to the PeerTube server that you were suggesting that day. It works just fine for the videos hosted on that instance, but of all the channels that I have searched for there (several of which were your recommendations), only one was found. I can find all of them on your instance, but since you don’t allow signups, I cannot subscribe to anything there.

I would be very grateful if you could recommend an instance that has the kind of reach that yours has, and allows signups.

@pacavegano@friendica.odonian.org. good day Jeff. As @FediVideo@social.growyourown.services said TubeFree is a general purpose instance. I run it through this nonprofit BT Free. Happy to help in anyway I can. MakerTube and Spectra Video are also great. Realizing I can subscribe my instance to more servers now looking at the other two. So thank you for writing this up as I've now learned as well. 😄

@FediVideo @BTFree Thanks so much! I had already submitted a request to makertube before I saw your reply. But I will definitely keep your instance in mind for recommending to others and for if I should ever want to switch.

@pacavegano@friendica.odonian.org @FediVideo@social.growyourown.services No problems at all! We're all here for 1 goal. Give people choice. 😊 I'm happy to hear you found a place, that's really all that matters imo.

@BTFree @pacavegano

Yup, I can vouch for TubeFree, it's run by nice people and the instance is specifically designed for onboarding 👍

@pacavegano

Hi, this is a really excellent question!

You're absolutely right, the one I recommended has quite a restricted network. Apologies for that, I will change it, thanks for letting me know.

There are much wider networks on (for example) https://makertube.net or https://tubefree.org or https://spectra.video

If you go to "more info" and then "network" on their websites you will see how much reach they have.
