@Goffi
Sounds too focused on the technical side. XMPP is imho already a bad branding (not pronounceable, not memorizable) so we're not bringing much accessibility by coining another techie term.

Imho if we want XMPP to gain traction over WhatsApp users we need to present it as a user-focused, no-hassle, easy-to-use option.

But maybe you're targeting the IT community?

@Goffi xmpp is great, I have many xmpp clients which sleep on my smartphone, or Linux desktop. I barely use them, I have no friend who use them, even about techies. I have blackmailed my close friends "I will no more answer on WhatsApp", I then could convince them to use Signal because they have some other relationship with Signal (which are mainly my relatives) but for xmpp the step is too high.

#did might be a good opportunity as there is somebtraction to move away from american silos, so you could use the argument that #signal is just another American silo like #WhatsApp.

#XMPP is technical as it is the protocol. To users you might speak about products like #quicksy or #snikket. Unfortunately there is missnig a good term for the ecosystem since #jabber is pwned by cisco.
