@TechConnectify
I don't know if you saw, but ProPublica wrote up the story of how oil companies bought up a local Ohio newspaper and used it to print lies about solar: https://www.propublica.org/article/ohio-mount-vernon-frasier-solar-fossil-fuel-metric-media
In case anyone needs further proof of how dirty the fight has been.

ProPublica

Fossil Fuel Interests Are Working to Kill Solar in One Ohio County. The Hometown Newspaper Is Helping.

A retired gas industry executive, a shadowy “grassroots” group and a controversial media company are spreading misinformation while turning residents against a proposed solar farm — and each other.

@TechConnectify

I already knew most of the information in this video, but I liked the way he organized it to make comparisons between renewable and consumable energy. A lot of food for thought.

@TechConnectify me: «Yes yes solar panels are awesome i know. Ok that's interesting. Hoo those maths are quite impressive, that look even better than intended.»

also me: «ho yet another fake ending.»

then me: «OMFG ! not what i expected ! This video is way better than expected !»

Great work as usual and good luck with your orange turd. I hope he won't start a war.

@TechConnectify hello, your video is a masterpiece. Thanks for making it.

YES your video made a lot sense to me, it made me realize how SO MUCH BETTER solar energy is. I would say I knew it, but you presentation made it become so clear that it made a click in my mind. I'll take more actions in this direction.

@f4grx @TechConnectify

Exactly, this video is so well at arguing it's position, you can't help but understand his view point.

Every avenue of common doubt about solar and battery was handled very well.

I thought I knew well, but now I truly do understand so much better.

@TechConnectify omg someone using math and basic common sense to discuss renewable energy - immediate follow!

If anyone wants to dive deeper into the land use/biofuels discussion, Oxford just recently published a good analysis

TLDR - if we put solar on the land currently used for biofuels, we would have enough electricity for ALL vehicles to be electric

Biofuels for transport is straight nonsense

https://ourworldindata.org/biofuel-land-solar-electric-vehicles

Our World in Data

Putting solar panels on land used for biofuels would produce enough electricity for all cars and trucks to go electric

The world dedicates a Poland-sized area of land to liquid biofuels. Is there a more efficient way to generate energy?

@utf_7 @TechConnectify

Solar is way too cheap to be ignored.

'Mining' oil for one time use is stupid compared to mining minerals and using them again and again forever.

Fuck ice.

"Disposable Energy"

wow... with two words, the issue is simplified from seemingly complicated to dead simple. we don't need disposable forks, we don't need disposable packaging, we don't need disposable fashion and we don't need disposable energy.

the term also sheds light on why trying to reconstitute the products of combusting petroleum just feels so odd - it's like digging the plastic fork out of the landfill the next time you need one.

not all the way through the video yet but man, that term alone is transformational.

@TechConnectify Haven't watched the video yet, but have you ever considered uploading your videos to #peertube? I think if anyone has an audience that would carry over pretty well to Peertube it's you. And one of the biggest issues with Peertube at the moment is a lack of high quality content and creators.

@techindepth27 Are there any sustainable, open servers? Most I know shut down due to missing funding or have very strict limits regarding content and/or video length.

@adlerweb I don't know much about that from a creator POV, but MakerTube and TILVids seem to be decent? Like @janeq said though, the most sustainable instance will always be the selfhosted one.
