Apple Weather says we only got 28" (72 cm)of snow, last I checked. Good news, it was very cold, so it's all powder!

@ascentale @skyfaller @bikenite A2. Never had the need, but I can't imagine you can do too much snow with enough speed to stay upright on a normal bike. Probably need a trike/quad or e-bike.

You might be able to do the plow lift somewhat easily with a big lever. Realistically you wouldn't want it moving too much movement I'd guess. Just enough to not scrape the ground.

@ascentale @skyfaller @bikenite A2: no, but pay very careful attention to the gearing on the bike-plow pictured. Note how the rider's weight is almost entirely on the rear wheel to provide maximum traction.

That suggests to me that it will actually handle a reasonable depth of snow. The rest will mostly slide a few cm off the top of the snowpack, so you'll being making multiple passes anyway and thus the drag-behind designs are not much worse.

There are a couple folks near me that have a sledge they drag behind an ebike. It seems to work reasonably well to make a narrow path. They’re doing the work our municipal and state governments refuse to.

A2. as a young ‘un, my friend and I fashioned a rear bike plow (to drag, not push the snow) out of wood scraps and sundry other spare parts.

We towed the plows from my Schwinn Typhoon and friend’s Schwinn Stingray. It was completely ineffective, but we accomplished something anyway.

The 90-year-old grandpa whose driveway we tried to bike-plow didn’t approve of our technique or results. #BikeNite

@ascentale @skyfaller @bikenite A2 we get one (1) snow storm per year in Portland, and it usually turns the roads to ice. So I can't say I've ever plowed snow with my bike.

...but my sister lives in Colorado and her husband is less than useful around the house, so I'll definitely send her that blog post!
