But the #OvertonWindow is narrow. Debate is framed largely around ICE, rather than as #imperialBlowback from overseas wars and the militarised racism within the USA. The left press explores the big picture, and the #NYT carried an oped by David Wallace-Wells https://archive.is/UGNfs .
But MSM reporting and Democrats continue to frame ICE as #Trump's overreach, rather than as normal American repression now visiting suburbs.
There is certainly a case for "see, this is what the rest of us have been living with for years" but there's also no question that 47 has made a significant escalation.
And I'm not sure what you mean by imperial blowback from overseas wars.
@CassandraVert The imperial boomerang (aka imperial blowback) is the theory that governments that develop repressive techniques to control colonial territories will eventually deploy those same techniques domestically against their own citizens. In this case, #ICE's conduct in #Minneapolis uses equipment and tactics developed in the #USA's imperial wars.

#Minnesotans have been part of the systemic repression for many decades, serving like Americans of all states with the military invaders of Iraq and Afghanistan and the attackers of so many other places. Even #AlexPretti, the nurse murdered by ICE, worked for the military-industrial complex. But the public discussion does not allow those links to be drawn.
