Hurricane Katrina-themed quilt featuring piecework, paint and appliqué. Houses, trees and bodies combine in a whirl of darkly colorful images. A silhouetted tree in the center of the piece morphs into two bodies. Several painted faces appear in windows and doors, many crying. Near the bottom of the quilt gray and black lines mimic dirty water with black silhouettes of bodies half submerged beneath a muddy brown and green strip of fabric. Towards the right, the bodies are depicted as standing on top of each other, until the top person holds a small umbrella out over the chaos below.
