Golden-crowned Kinglets today. In the same Family (Regulidae) as the Ruby-crowned, but not in the same Genus - only two in this Family. Golden-crowns move at near light speed, and can be very challenging to photograph. The mantra is - patience - spot focus - very reactive lens - high shutter speed - split shutter from focus - watch and try to anticipate where they will land - patience. A fun challenge.
Always a thrill to see this gregarious, active birds. They overwinter with us, arriving in October and departing in late March (typically).
