#Quilting

A wood panel with a laser cut image of the hold of a slave ship is sewn to a red and black human silhouette set against a background of gold and red African fabric. This arched installation is then backed by a quilt of distressed denim that spills out into a mass of fabric on the floor. The gathered fabric, on which small Xs have been scattered, is reminiscent of the ocean waves where countless unnamed enslaved people drowned while being transported from Africa
