One of the things we have long struggled with is trying to do what is best for a diverse constituency of #netlabels, #musicians, #podcasters, and #ccmusic enthusiasts.
I've long wanted some sort of federation with folks that spoke different languages, lived in different time zones, etc but we have not been able to execute on the vision.
This morning I decided that we needed to become a curator of curators.
There are just too many different musicians in different genres with different needs. There are full-time musicians looking to get paid and there are hobbyist musicians who literally don't want to be paid because they don't want to turn it into a job.
ok, I was wrong, longer than a thread of 2, maybe 3?
Different #Netlabels are - in a variety of different ways - already meeting or at least trying to meet these needs. Additionally, @wiloma has taken the step to include Netlabel-of-one musicians in #Netlabelday
As such, @friendsofccmusic is going to use the federation that already exists and focus exclusively on #podcasters & netlabels. There is, of course, plenty of overlap. @tmray for example is a musician and a podcaster. The orgs mission will be on the podcaster and netlabel side though.
And I am using "podcaster" here in the loosest of terms. We will include video only media as well as streams. The focus is going to be being a "Curator of Curators"
