Hey #RSS gurus. I'm asking a serious question, and not in the form of a poll.

I self-host #FreshRSS. The whole point should be to click on the thumbnail / summary of an article and then read the full article without leaving the comfort of the feed reader. Right?

Why does the following happen with some feeds (see attachment)?

Looking at an example of my feed reader. The first line shows the summary of the article.
The second section just shows the same information (a summary).
Now, I have to click on THAT to go read the article on their website.

@Nead I also self host FreshRSS. I think it’s something to do with how the original webpage is set up. Some pages show in full, some not from the same source for me. I don’t know how to fix that.
I found @neil ‘s blog post helpful in setting the CSS selectors to get as much of the page as possible: https://neilzone.co.uk/2024/05/using-css-selectors-in-freshrss-to-automatically-retrieve-the-full-text-of-partial-text-rss-feeds/

Using CSS selectors in FreshRSS to automatically retrieve the full text of partial text RSS feeds

I am a fan of RSS. It makes me smile when I read of RSS making a come-back as, for me at least, it never went anywhere.

This is my view, and yes, I work around it,, but some people disagree, and don't want to "lose" the traffic / clicks to their website (and the opportunity to display advertising / deploy trackers...) inherent in full-text RSS.
