i drew this so i could use it as a mastodon banner. it took *forever* to get the body twist right.

anyway i stayed up late working on it and am experiencing something similar to semantic satiation with it, where it just looks like colored shapes now and not art really (but i'm also too stubborn not to use it as the banner now that it's done)

#pixelart #ドット絵 #art #mastoart #DigitalArt #catgirl

it's a pixel art picture of a catgirl. she has bright red hair, green eyes, and a red tail. she's laying on her side, with her stomach and legs facing the viewer, but her torso is facing the ground more (the twist this implies took a long time to get right). her head is turned towards the viewer, and she's resting on one of her hands, with a slightly lazy smile on her face. she's wearing a green tube top which exposes her midriff and short green gym shorts. she doesn't have shoes or socks on.

@xvln Tusky 32 is clipping the image ☹️

But the catgirl is gorgeous!

Headers on fedi are weird. There is no way to make something which will look good on all frontends...

@aelspire this isn't too surprising and i'm not exactly bent out of shape about it. i don't think there's a way to do this that looks great everywhere

@xvln Yeah, my thoughts too.

Why bother with requiring such uncommon aspect ratio when clients are not respecting it? This is not critique of your art, as it is beautiful, but the header standard in fedi.

@xvln @aelspire There's no requirement for any particular aspect ratio, you can put whatever you want in there and clients will crop it to something that makes sense in their design.

For Tusky, maybe it's actually device-specific? I'm on Tusky right now and I get a bit more of the sides than you do.

@julian @xvln I stand corrected then.

https://docs.joinmastodon.org/user/profile/#header says:

This image will be downscaled to 1500x500.

So, I've assumed that this size is the standard one.

@aelspire @xvln I think that's what the main Mastodon UI shows, but if you do right click -> Open image in new tab on any profile header image that didn't have that exact ratio (like mine), you can see the rest of it. Great place to hide an easter egg, now that I think about it. 😀
