Hanson-Young said she expected both Labor and the Liberals to vote against it, calling out Labor for continuing not to act on the Peta Murphy report on gambling advertising. However, since the split of the Coalition, Nationals senator Matt Canavan indicated the Nationals would vote for it. He said he thought the Greens were going too far in calling to ban things, but the Nationals supported the scrutiny of parliament.
