I gotta say, marimo¹ seems to have worked around all the things that kept me from using #python notebooks for anything other than rough sketches. It's a really nice way to do iterative, exploratory work. And they put a lot of smart quality-of-life stuff in there too. The integration with UV and pip is so convenient.

@praxeology when just casually trying Marimo I was surprised how quickly it was obvious that it was a leap forward for python notebooks:

I wonder if jupyter can bring any of the quality of life improvements in? it seems like the biggest win, reactivity, would require a lot of changes...

@ink The simple fact that I can now sensibly store notebooks and track changes in a git repo means I'm likely sticking with this for the future. They even have a script to convert from .ipynb to Marimo formatted .py files so I'm already a convert.
