For Instagram, my art is "Likely made with AI". Hard to be an artist in 2026...

@davidrevoy
these mainstream sites are promoting the ai they are invested in, it's just code, your style stands out , don't be influenced by those with a profit motive unless they are paying you,.. (even then)
@davidrevoy admittedly your art looks like something that an AI was trained with 😶
@davidrevoy also I mean it just takes a sec to check you've been doing this longer than AI, that you've done several tutorials etc.
What a shitty system if it's not able to check for that.
@davidrevoy
So first they train AI on real artists stolen pictures, and then they say the artist's pictures look like what AI generates...
Euhm.
@davidrevoy This is another reason why we need the #zuzai tag!
@davidrevoy They still owe me a couple hundred dollars too. But they're in a different state and the cost/hassle of going to small claims would have been prohibitive. Also it would have meant dealing with them again. So I'm calling it the asshole tax.
@davidrevoy I got kicked out of a high paying freelance gig because my organic writing kept tripping their "industry standard" "AI detector." Said (alleged) detector was completely paywalled and just gave a percentage match, didn't highlight phrases, so I wouldn't have been able to fix individual issues. I suspect part of it is that I write like an autistic person, and another part is that when all you want is soulless advertising copy, it's impossible to distinguish the source.
@davidrevoy
T'ain, y'a rien à sauver chez meta...
Courrage, on aime ce que tu fais!
@davidrevoy Well, now I follow you there, it didn’t even came to my mind before 😊 (there, I am rather getting news from a few non Fedi fellows, and about people around nature, ecology, ethology, plus rather independant news media....)
I am sure, our best strength is to enforce a collective human effort to make human creation on the foreground of the scene. I don’t know if it could be better, if there are drawbacks, but I am more and more attracted by https://codeberg.org/robida/human.json.
@davidrevoy Time to encourage all of the kids under 15 who longer have access to social media platforms to start their own mastodon instances to get away from this nonsense
@davidrevoy that is likely because your work has been stolen by scrapers and used to train AI's.
So they see the same style in some AI art.
And that sucks.
@davidrevoy argh saw the same under a few of my pictues. This sucks :(
@davidrevoy This sucks so much. I’m sorry it’s happening to you.
@davidrevoy
I'm sorry for you.
And yet, your images look so much better than AI-generated ones. Especially how flawless they are. 💜
@davidrevoy I am so sorry that such wonderful work is a victim of rubbish AI nonsense. How can this be fixed? False automated accusations are actually libelous and I would take it on that way. There must be a artists' association that can so this? Good luck. Great paintings.
@davidrevoy Dump instagram, they don't need to be fed by your beautiful works ! Let's them diying inside their AI nightmare
Mary Shelley aussi! 100% IA!
@davidrevoy
Can you blame AI for saying that? You're practically stealing it's job
@davidrevoy Since this is not true, it means you are an unlikely person, which is good ;-). I am happy to follow you here and not having insta… Hope you posted this content also on insta for those following you there !
@davidrevoy are they saying your art is too good to be true?
@davidrevoy Now you know how Zdzisław Beksiński felt.
@davidrevoy I had this same feeling from an in-person conversation with somebody in 2023. LOL
@davidrevoy ouais. Mais nous on sait.
In a just world, false accusations of being slop output would be actionable libel / slander.
I feel for artists of all stripes in this our hellscape 2026. We software engineers think we've got it bad, but ...
@davidrevoy Your art is hybrid enough for them to be misinterpreted as "AI-like". They can't understand cartoon can have proper shading and color gradient.
@davidrevoy In this case, AI stands for 'Artistic Intent'
@davidrevoy thats what happens when a bot is controlling whats can or not hapenning in instagram.
@davidrevoy WTF. That's some bullshit.
@davidrevoy Ai doesn't have the quirky humor and artistic sense you do. I love your characters.
@davidrevoy How are they detecting whether it is likely AI made? My money is on with AI lol.
@davidrevoy quoth he in his Nirvana t-shirt. Take it as a compliment.
@davidrevoy
Instagrams AI detection is bullshit?? Le Gasp!!
@davidrevoy
"People don't believe us when we say that AI art is just as good as human art. Let them believe that huma n srt is made by AI, until they stop believing their own senses".
Aka. gaslighting.
@davidrevoy pathetic. I think it shows nicely this is made by a human!
@davidrevoy the irony/absurdity of this is that the AI used to detect AI production probably had ingested your work at some point of its training from its base model and now consider anything remotely resembling your work as "possibly" made by AI, which strangely make sense as someone could have used the AI to copy your style. A bizarro word kind of sense; the very stuff that stole your work is now used to label your original work as fake. That's just...great. 🤦🏾♂️
@davidrevoy Well to be fair, some AI is going to copy you work and it will "look" like your work but with lower quality humor.
@davidrevoy every morning i wake up to more things that make me hate ai
@davidrevoy Ça ferait un bon gag avec l'intelligence aviaire qui dirait "ah non, ce coup-ci, c'est pas moi".
@davidrevoy Tbf I consider anything that has ✨ in it likely made with AI. AI has ruined many things, including the stars
@davidrevoy
Or a writer.
Mysteriously our book sales are way down the last 2 years.
@davidrevoy It would be very easy for them to screw this up. Meta is awful at making an "A.I." and I don;t think Zark Fuckerberg knows what it is like to be, or interact with, a human.
@davidrevoy This timelapse is likely to be IA-generated.
@davidrevoy
This is happening to almost every creator. A lot of those accounts are AI bots, off to sow confusion and doubt by claiming any real art - real creativity - is AI.
The fact that AI is trained on our stolen works means that it will detect our creative efforts as AI... and therefore makes AI useless for detecting AI.
The tech bros who love AI want to - very literally - destroy any real creativity in favor of their fake slop.
Then they pretend to be offended when we say we hate AI.
@davidrevoy that's f crazy!
@davidrevoy Andy Frazer (Dragons of Wales) has also been labelled as AI. He, also, is a very talented artist. It is a frustrating thing.
