For Instagram, my art is "Likely made with AI". Hard to be an artist in 2026...
@davidrevoy
Instagrams AI detection is bullshit?? Le Gasp!!
@davidrevoy
"People don't believe us when we say that AI art is just as good as human art. Let them believe that huma n srt is made by AI, until they stop believing their own senses".
Aka. gaslighting.
@davidrevoy pathetic. I think it shows nicely this is made by a human!
@davidrevoy the irony/absurdity of this is that the AI used to detect AI production probably had ingested your work at some point of its training from its base model and now consider anything remotely resembling your work as "possibly" made by AI, which strangely make sense as someone could have used the AI to copy your style. A bizarro word kind of sense; the very stuff that stole your work is now used to label your original work as fake. That's just...great. 🤦🏾♂️
@davidrevoy Well to be fair, some AI is going to copy you work and it will "look" like your work but with lower quality humor.
@davidrevoy every morning i wake up to more things that make me hate ai
@davidrevoy Ça ferait un bon gag avec l'intelligence aviaire qui dirait "ah non, ce coup-ci, c'est pas moi".
@davidrevoy Tbf I consider anything that has ✨ in it likely made with AI. AI has ruined many things, including the stars
@davidrevoy
Or a writer.
Mysteriously our book sales are way down the last 2 years.
@davidrevoy It would be very easy for them to screw this up. Meta is awful at making an "A.I." and I don;t think Zark Fuckerberg knows what it is like to be, or interact with, a human.
@davidrevoy This timelapse is likely to be IA-generated.
@davidrevoy
This is happening to almost every creator. A lot of those accounts are AI bots, off to sow confusion and doubt by claiming any real art - real creativity - is AI.
The fact that AI is trained on our stolen works means that it will detect our creative efforts as AI... and therefore makes AI useless for detecting AI.
The tech bros who love AI want to - very literally - destroy any real creativity in favor of their fake slop.
Then they pretend to be offended when we say we hate AI.
@davidrevoy that's f crazy!
@davidrevoy Andy Frazer (Dragons of Wales) has also been labelled as AI. He, also, is a very talented artist. It is a frustrating thing.
@davidrevoy AI says something was created by AI.
That's surely 100% reliable, right? Right?
@davidrevoy
Wow. That is a pretty damning indictment of their "AI detection AI".
@davidrevoy
Sorry that happens to you. Fwiw, my 11 year old niece isn't bothered and finds your work hilarious. As do I.
@davidrevoy
That's crazy. I bet there's tons of actual ai slop that didn't get flagged...
@davidrevoy Just shows how many """AI Art Generators""" were trained on your stuff =P
@davidrevoy Picture in the background is beautiful
@davidrevoy Dang, David. 😮💨 Instagram is terrible most of the time.
@davidrevoy Deeply sad times. Feel very sorry for a true (and good) artist.
I would explore real world canvases a little. Where AI has little traction (so far).
i wrote a whole rant about it with all my lungs
essentially:
the problem of AI is not fakes (although that is a problem, it's not the main problem)
the problem of AI is that it enables this loest common denominator asshole going ":fake, AI" under EVERY COMMENT AND WORK OF ART
that lazy behavior becomes a disinfo vector all by itself
@davidrevoy i suspect it's because a lot of "Al" art looks like your art…
@davidrevoy Yeah. I've been getting that with my writing. It's hard to describe how infuriating it is to have your work stolen, badly copied by a fucking machine, and then to be accused of being that same fucking machine.
hate it so much
@davidrevoy Obnoxious doesn't even cover that. I hope for a day when Meta and their ilk is just a blurb on a Wikipedia page.
@davidrevoy i looooooooove timelapses.
Also i looove artist showing or telling about the effort that goes into their art.
It helps me not feel toooo bad for the sometimes I pick up a pencil and try to free something from my mind.
@davidrevoy : the problem is that now you can find genAI that creates timelapses. I don't use them so I have no idea how good they currently are, but even if they're bad they still are enough to discredit timelapses entirely. Soon there will be no way to actually prove your creation is manmade and it's TERRIFYING.
@davidrevoy Only way to get rid of AI is to take the money out of it. Meta is making money on this and if they haven’t already started I bet they will start making their own AI accounts.
(Which is why I think free open source AI would grind the AI companies to a halt, because there would be no money in it and then it could be made ethical for whoever insists.)
@davidrevoy Time to ditch the metaverse?
@davidrevoy maybe this AI era is to tell us to not rely on technology too much
@davidrevoy I think a greater focus away from online to real world canvases etc would be prudent.
@davidrevoy as another artist i know how hard it hits you
just the other day some artist friend got questioned whether they used ai to draw their new art, cuz the questioner didn't understand the structure of their creative outfit, they were sad and upset just like you..
@davidrevoy Neither humans nor machines can distinguish between actual human made art and AI Generated crap.
@davidrevoy Sad to see that happening. Now you've posted this I bet some AI fanatic is busy working out how to train up a model that can slop out fake timelapses.
@davidrevoy What the hell, that's disgraceful of them. I mean it can't be that hard for a machine to detect *actual* AI art, can it?
@davidrevoy Dragons of Wales has the same issue. And that sucks for both of you who make such amazing art.
Sorry its hit you. After I got mislabeled as AI, I had an absolute torrent of people attack me all at once. Hope you don't get quite the same hate.
@davidrevoy I think it's because your art looks too similar to that of David Revoy, the author of Pepper & Carrot, while presenting new comics.
(«But doctor, » etc)
Aidan Robbins, a guy on YT who makes really beautiful mini nature/environmental documentaries made a thoughtful video on the subject on one of his secondary channels
Essentially he describes a growing intent to leave in imperfections in his work, and include "behind the scenes" type stuff to sort of make it easier for people to know it's not AI.
Not the exact same kind of art you make, but maybe some principles that might be food for thought:
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ftoUfp709UQ&pp=ygUQYWlkYW4gcm9iYmlucyBhaQ%3D%3D
@davidrevoy Ugh. I dread the day that people start using AI to make fake "process" videos.
Sorry you need to be on Insta for the reach.
@davidrevoy 😡 A similar issue can be found on Pinterest. Many artworks were wrongly tagged with "AI modified" tags. This is so annoying.
@sylvia_ritter @davidrevoy „Our AI likely trained with this artist‘s material“, I guess.
@davidrevoy @Gargron you should add your own disclaimer… “Likely harvested by Meta’s AI without my consent.”
@davidrevoy I would counter that with "Likely classified with AI"
@davidrevoy It would be more accurate to say that "the AI was probably trained using this artist work"
@davidrevoy another way in which AI has ruined everything
