@barthalion@treehouse.systems
WHY THE FUCK ARE SO MANY DONATING TO THAT SHITBAG?
@raccoon @barthalion Exposure. They're clearly treating it as an advertising opportunity.
@barthalion there's no "afford" here. Gnome and Flathub refused sponsorship from Framework because of their support for fashtech, so the ego bruised fash are withdrawing their support and spending ostentatiously on visibly fash projects to project their vision of technology's future
@ryanprior @barthalion this article was about Digital Ocean. Did you mean DO, or did Framework do something here, too?
@evana in an earlier episode, Framework supported Omarchy in a bunch of blog & social media posts, and by publicizing that they were sending free hardware to DHH and some of the other devs associated with Omarchy.
As a result of that, the entire Framework open source volunteer staff walked, they had to shut down their Discord, and they deleted a ton of related posts on their subreddit and forums.
@ryanprior @evana oh I didn't know this, that's good to hear actually (about the walk out).
@evana Framework attempted a recovery by reaching out to other software orgs, including Gnome and Flatpak, in a "both sides" gesture. They quietly rejected these donations, which was received by ego-fragile fascists as a firm rebuke, even though the projects never discussed it openly AFAIK. We know it was received this way, though, because fash hollered for weeks afterwards about how woke and degenerate Gnome and Flatpak are.
The recent DO withdrawal & Omarchy support arrives in this context.
@barthalion It's always "we are for diversity of thoughts and we do not share those values" when it's about funding projects lead by white supremacist
and never when it's about projects promoting diversity
makes you think...
@barthalion Yeah, but in fairness, Gnome doesn't have anyone that needs millions to spend on smashing up race cars
