We lost a friend a few years back to cancer. She had served as a volunteer first responder and we all knew 9/11 was the cause of her illness.

@blogdiva My uncle never physically, mentally, nor emotionally recovered from rescue work at the Twin Tower site (firefighter in NYC).

Eventually, he did develop lots of health complications, never got the funding he (and all others were promised) to pay for the care he needed.

@blogdiva I am so mad on your behalf, everyone's behalf. So sorry you've had to go through everything while we were all lied to. Everyone talks about the day. But to me it was those months afterwards that were so hard, and I wasn't even that close. My daughter went to a little preschool near St. Vincents so we had to walk by that wall of missing posters every day. We all have our stories, but I hate talking about to people who didn't live here. That's probably mean but 🤷‍♀️
