It is amazing how Ed Sheeran fucked himself by caving to Bob Kraft.

I don't feel it should be surprising to him which side of "Free Palestine" his *Irish* backing band was going to land on.

But then again, I don't think entertainers at Sheeran's level are connected to the reality of general public feeling. He's too far removed. He deals with the Bob Krafts of the world more than with his own audiences. He lives in a different world where he never hears "Free Palestine" from fucking anyone

I'm starting to understand how popular entertainers—entertainers with industry support—function to serve the oligarch class.

They are surrounded by the money people. They live in an artificial world with those people. They don't live in the same reality as us, and they do what it takes to keep the money coming in. They shut up when they are supposed to & don't think or act like independent people.

Not ALL of them. You'll have Mark Ruffalo at the Oscars going "what the fuck? The government is kidnapping people off the streets, & no one has anything to say about that?"

So sometimes some people go off script. That was definitely off script.

But for most people, complicity is necessary for their career, & they get to live in a sheltered environment where they don't face consequences for that complicity, so it works out for them. Mostly.

Big movie stars, pop stars & the like don't live in the same world as us.

They really don't. At least not without significant effort on their part.

Oligarchs want their glitz & glamor to spice up their parties & they want the biggest voices in our culture to either speak for them or at very least go silent on anything that matters.

This has always been the case, but with the deepening class divide, this becomes much more glaringly obvious. I doubt Sheeran fully understood what he was doing.
