#NATO chief∶ Issue of whether #Greenland stays with #Denmark did not come up with #Trump

Rutte made his comments in an interview on FauxNews' "Special Report with Bret Baier" show.

Earlier, Trump abruptly stepped back from threats to impose #tariffs as leverage to seize Greenland, ruled out the use of force, & said a deal was in sight to end a dispute over the Danish territory.

#Trump said that VP #JDVance, Secy of State #MarcoRubio, the special envoy #SteveWitkoff & other officials would continue to lead negotiations on #Greenland. But it seemed that #MarkRutte, the secretary general of #NATO, was able to successfully de-escalate tension with Trump after days of threats & insults against European leaders who resisted his territorial expansion.

The details of any framework aside, Trump’s decision to back down from steep new #tariffs on European countries came days after financial #markets recoiled over the prospect of a #trade war. Some analysts felt that a protracted battle threatened to harm the #US #economy, not just the countries that #Trump had been trying to pressure over #Greenland.

Nevertheless, it was not the first time that #TACO has retreated from his tariff plans, particularly in the wake of a strong market reaction.

Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen is commenting on Trump's announcement that a “framework” deal on #Greenland has been reached.

Here's a summary of what he's said so far:

What is important is an end this in a way that respects the Greenlandic people.

The substance of that conversation will be telling Trump to keep his hands off Greenland

Speaking to CNBC, #Trump said the #Greenland deal was everything the White House wanted & was a deal everyone was happy with.

"Its a little bit complex," Trump said about the deal, saying it will be explained "down the line."

"This is forever," Trump told CNBC.

Greenland’s government advised households on Wednesday to have enough supplies 5 five days in case of a crisis, as #Trump told European leaders that he would not use military force to take the semiautonomous Danish territory.

#Greenland said it published the #CrisisPreparedness brochure, which made no mention of Trump, in response to repeated power outages & in order to “strengthen the security of the population & to ensure that society’s overall preparedness is even stronger.
