Rep Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, the top #Democrat on the committee, used his opening statement to criticize #federal #immigration enforcement agencies for avoiding congressional #oversight. #Democrats have sued the #Trump admin for blocking lawmakers from entering facilities for oversight visits, something required by a provision in the #law that funds #ICE.

Todd Lyons, acting director of #ICE, said that about 3,000 officers, out of roughly 13,000 in the field were equipped with #BodyCameras. Last week, #KristiNoem, #DHS secretary, said that all #immigration officers in #Minneapolis would be given body cameras & that the program would be expanded nationwide “as funding is available.”
