I just released version 1.2 of mmdb-server.

mmdb-server is an open source fast API server to lookup IP addresses for their geographic location.

Some minor changes in this release including in the API.

Your definition is more useful and practical.

Mine is more definitional and categorical.

A script is interpreted by an interpreter, then machine code instructions execute. It's a run time affair, turning bytes in the script file into instructions for the CPU.

A program is compiled by a compiler from source into machine code and then stored in a file for later execution.

The program is the compiled code file.

Python scripts are all "scripts" run by the interpreter "program."

@pseudonym That's one of the distinctions I considered and dismissed, because it breaks down quickly.

Off the top of my head: Java is compiled into bytecode and dynamically compiled into machine code at runtime, and Bitbucket was (and presumably still is) implemented in Python - that's a pretty hefty set of "scripts."

Meantime, my test scripts in Common Lisp are compiled-then-executed by the "interpreter", as are my exploratory bits of introspection on code and objects when I'm debugging.

“Immense world” is a remarkable book written with a lot of science but also sensitivity. I try to get everyone to read it. It totally changed the way that I think about how animals think.

The audiobook is great. With non-fiction sometimes audiobooks don't work, but this one is worth listening to. (Or just read the paperback)

Anyway, if you are looking for something that expands your horizons. Something that teaches you new things and that's ... positive.

Trafficking minors for sex is an example of our laws not being targeted at the wealthy property owners. Pretty much all law targets those who would take from wealthy property owners. Targeting those providing the minors is action against those involved in “trade.” Epstein was an exception of a wealthy person getting involved in trade. He should have stayed a user. Then the law would have ignored him.
