In 2017, shortly after its release, I played through the digital PC version of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun on Hardcore mode, achieving all the Badges in every level. 🥷
The game, comparable to the Commandos titles, became one of my all-time favorites, offering challenges that exactly fit my play-style. 🏆
I now got hands on the sealed steelbook edition of the game for a decent price, so I can add it to my small physical PC game collection. ✨

Being overwhelmed by Shadow Tactics, I immediately bought and started into Desperados 3 on release day in 2020, planning to play through the game on the hardest difficulty and achieving all the badges, too. 🐃
Somehow this one didn't catch me and I stopped playing the game after two levels. A second try in 2022 I once again stopped after another 3 levels. Maybe it was the Wild West theme or some of the differing design decision but Desperados 3 didn't brought...

Went for a little bike ride, which was probably a mistake because I hadn't appreciated just what a number the flu had done on my fitness and those hills nearly killed me, and I didn't really enjoy stopping to blow my nose every five metres. I also had crusted, dried cat sick on my hi vis and didn't notice until about mile 2, by which point it was a bit late to do anything about that. But!

@mdhughes When you say "linux appliances", I'm guessing that's just your way of saying linux computers? Do you refer to all computers as appliances?
And I'm not sure why you say nothing on Linux works on Linux Desktop? I'm having no problems after 10 months of use. The OS and the apps have been just as useful and reliable as the Mac or iPad were for me. And, honestly, they're just as easy to use as the apps I used daily on the Apple devices.

@tymoty no ano, občanská společnost... ale pak tu máš svůj #famur o kterém jsi přesvědčený, že je jaksi něčím víc, že je tím rámcem, který občanská společnost potřebuje, aby fungovala.
A já za tím tuším toho Syndera, ne to dílo Svoboda, ale spíš Krvavé země, kde poukazuje, že válečná zvěrstva ve východní Evropě po 1.světové a během 2.světové války často souvisela právě s tím, že válka infrastrukturu státy odstranila a bez něj se obyvatelstvo vrátilo ke svým primitivním, kmenovým identitám.
A možná je to samozřejmě pravda... možná hranice, která nás dělí od barbarství, je tenčí, než si myslíme, a občanská společnost bez té "úřední společnosti", nebo jak to nazvat, není tak silná, jak doufáme... já tu tezi samozřejmě pochopil, akorát pokud je pravdivá, tak to nevnímám jako naději, ale spíš jako riziko... přál bych si, aby občanská společnost byla dost silná sama o sobě, i bez úředníků.

Do jaké míry může existovat něco jako "hřiště" nebo, chceš-li "občanská společnost" bez "správy"? Zdá se mi, že ty věříš, že to je možné. Já si vůbec nejsem jist. Zdá se mi, že celkem průběžně platí, že různé představy lidí o budoucnosti lidstva nebo jejich společnosti, o tom, co je možné a co ne, zdaleka nedosahovaly divokostí, které pak nastaly. Vůbec si nemyslím, že by současné velenahodilé a velepodivné uspořádání správy lidstva muselo nějak nutně přetrvávat v téhle podobě furt. Jenom se snažím vycházet ze skutečnosti, z toho, jak to je, nikoliv ze zbožného přání, jak by to mohlo být. Moc rád, bych se shodl na tom, jak to je, a z toho se pak bavil o tom, co určitého můžeme a máme dělat.
