born this day: Maria Mies of Germany. Author of numerous books including Ecofeminism, & Patriarchy and Accumulation on a World Scale. She coined the phrase "housewifisation" for the devaluing of women's labour. She wrote extensively about the intersection between capitalism, patriarchy & colonialism. One of her main concerns was the development of an alternative, feminist and decolonial approach in methodology and in economics. (6 February 1931 - 15 May 2023)

When they wouldn't surrender, Dutch aircraft bombed the ship killing 23 people.
